Minutes of February 4, 2011

The meeting of the KCMS was called to order by Match Director, Rod McCracken at 12:20 at High Trail Arabians in Boston,
Kentucky.  The following were in attendance:  Rod McCracken, Ruth McCracken, Jeep Ellis, Linda Ellis, Marilyn Hagan, Rick Hagan,
Wyatt Hagan, Wade Hagan, Luke Hagan, John Ashbaugh, Brenda Ashbaugh, Clay Greenwell, Ben Maddox, Caroline Maddox, Ann
Poole, Bob Pickerill, Stanley Goddie, J.P. Smith, Angie Greenwell, Kacie Greenwell.

Al Decker, Department of Fish and Wildlife, gave a presentation on gun safety as well as a review of firearms.

Minutes of the October 7, 2010 meeting were approved as read.

Treasurer reported a balance $863.79 plus $50.00 in petty cash and one new member, Tory Kleinfelter from Horse Cave,
Kentucky.  Welcome Tory!

Angie stated there is a misspelling on our club shirts so they will all be reprinted.  She did some research on the Kentucky Horse
Council.  It will cost us $50.00 to join and she recommended we do so for the advertising for our club.  No action was taken but the
officers will take this into consideration at the next executive meeting.

Equipment Update:  Jeep purchased a set of stand and balloon sticks from the CMSA web site.  The bases are $209 for a set of 10;
the sticks are $35 for a set of ten.  PVC pipe also needs to be purchased to make this work.  Rod said that a thinner wall pipe needs
to be used.  There were no instructions but Rod figured it out.  Rod and John are each going to purchase a set of sticks so that
would be 30 total for our club.  The sticks will make blowing up the balloons faster and easier as well as giving every competitor a
straight up target.  This will result in a fair match for all.

Practices:  Rod will schedule at least one practice during the week for our newest member that is unavailable on weekends.  We will
continue with the first and third Saturday practices when the weather breaks.

CMSA:  We are going to investigate whether or not joining the CMSA for the insurance coverage is feasible.  One question to be
answered is, will it cover our practice sessions?

Open Discussion:
By-laws:  Linda brought up possible by-laws.  They can be easily downloaded from the Internet.  We would have to make a few
decisions for example the length of officers’ terms and what to do with funds and equipment should our club dissolve.
Practice:  It was brought up that to share the driving time we could practice at each others farms or the fair grounds.  This led to
another question, would CMSA cover our practices if held at different places?
Firearms:  Stanley showed his new revolver, a Heritage, purchased through “Cheaper Than Dirt.”  To order on-line just select John
as the dealer and the revolver will be sent to him, cost $360 + $10 + $20.  All barrel lengths are available.  Caroline, David and Ben
found a Ruger Vaquara for $300 and a Simeron for $325 at the Mt. Sterling County Court Days.  The next one is scheduled for
October.
Rigs:  John found a rig on the Triple K web site for $88.00  Stanley found a gentleman in Bowling Green that makes holsters for
$55.00 see Stanley for directions.  Carolyn found Tandy Leather in Fern Creek where you can make your own rig.
Horse Training:  Rod and John are working on a training video.  They have verbiage finished and are now working to put a picture
with the description to better explain the techniques.

We enjoyed an entertaining video that resulted in the “injury” of several people, John included.  The meeting was adjourned at 2:00
p.m.   A big thank you went to Angie and Ruth for the coffee, hot chocolate and donuts.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Ellis
